International Mobility Program

An employer may hire a temporary foreign worker through the International Mobility Program or the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

The International Mobility Program includes categories which do not require an employer or a prospective employer to apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before a foreign national can apply for a work permit.

Nonetheless, if a foreign national will be applying for an employer-specific work permit under the International Mobility Program, their employer or prospective employer will be required to file an offer of employment with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (Immigration Canada) and pay the employer compliance fee before the foreign national can apply for a work permit under this category.
